Unique Scandinavian Buffet - $125

Scandinavian Buffet - $125 (Hagerstown, MD)

No, this post is not about the food court at IKEA... It is, rather, about the very unique "Scandinavian" buffet / sideboard pictured above, which is being sold for just $125. I've never seen a piece quite like this one, so I can't say much about its history or value, but I think it has great style. According to the seller, the top is Italian marble and the sideboard is constructed of walnut. It has a row of drawers down the left half and a pair of wicker / cane / grasscloth doors on the right side which conceal more drawers and some open storage space. The seller also states that the sideboard is from the 1950s, though it is unclear where that information comes from (at first glance, it looks newer to me).

Overall, I love the contrasting use of materials and the distinctly European style in this piece, and the price is very reasonable. Generally speaking, sideboards are very functional pieces of furniture, whether used as media stands or china storage, and are also good for keeping your house looking clean (just close the doors and the mess disappears!). The only downside is that, according to the seller, there is a crack in the marble top - though it is not clear how large / significant that is. Even so, if it matters to you, marble is easy to replace. If you are in the market for a sideboard, this could be a great piece for you!

Lane Acclaim Buffet + China Cabinet

Lane China Cabinet / Hutch - $250 (Leesburg)

This listing is for a great buffet with a resting, floating china cabinet made by Lane. The buffet has the pronounced dovetailing that was standard on furniture in Lane's Acclaim line. I looked around a bit but did not find any pictures of this particular piece in Acclaim resources online, and can therefore only assume that it was part of the Acclaim line based on its distinct design features.

Lane has always been a quality furniture company, and the Acclaim pieces are very collectible and valuable these days (particularly the tables). Because I can't find another piece like this out there, it is hard to know what its "real" value is. However, I do know that this is a great piece of mid century furniture in good condition made by a well-known manufacturer and worth well over the $250 asking price.

If you are in the market for a mid century buffet / credenza / china cabinet, this is a great find.

Beautiful Danish modern china cabinet

This listing is for a beautiful and classic Danish modern china cabinet from the 1960s. The cabinet speaks for itself. It appears to be two separate pieces: a credenza / buffet / sideboard, and a resting china hutch.  This piece has the beautiful orange wood hue that is common in pieces of this style and period, and a clean facade with no adornment and simple lines.

This is a great piece of furniture, and appears to be in solid condition.  Offered at $500, but surely there is some wiggle room there...

Beautiful Danish Modern Credenza

As I have mentioned before, and you probably know, Danish modern credenzas are extremely popular right now.  And, in my opinion, this for a good reason; these pieces of furniture are beautiful, functional, and work well in almost every home in either a living or dining room.  This one, in particular, is very nice.  It has a classic design - simple facade, visible wood grain, strong horizontal lines, and a low profile.  This piece also combines drawers and cabinets, making it extra-functional.

Finally, at this price it is a great deal.  Look around on the internet and in stores and you will quickly find that a piece like this will regularly sell for $700 and up. This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful piece of furniture and maybe even make a few bucks.

Posted last night, and will be gone by tomorrow...

Modern credenza

This is a beautiful modern credenza / sideboard / buffet in dark stain with a Danish mid century look. These credenzas are very "in" right now and can fetch a hefty price. In addition to being nice from a design standpoint, this would be a great functional piece to add storage (reduce clutter) and create a display space for your mid century or atomic lamp, vase, or other artifact.

At $445, this piece is on the top-end of what I would like to spend through Craig's List, however these are hard to find for much cheaper, and I think this piece would really hold its re-sale value. And note that the seller is willing to take offers... never hurts to ask!
